Symposium shall take place in the main lecture room of the Department
of Orthopaedic Surgery, University Medical Centre Ljubljana. The
lecture room can accommodate 80 visitors and includes modern
multimedia presentation equipment, including the possibility of life
surgery transmission from the operating theatre.

The University Medical Centre Ljubljana is the leading tertiary medical institution in Slovenia employing 750 medical specialists and 6,000 employees altogether. The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery forms a part of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana as the tertiary centre in the field of orthopaedics, particularly endoprosthetics, bony tumors, sports injuries, orthopaedic spinal surgery and pediatric orthopaedics.


The capacity of medical services at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery encompasses 100 hospital beds, 26,000 outpatient visits and 3,200 surgical procedures performed each year. Research fields include hip biomechanics, biomechanical modeling of orthopaedic procedures (hip osteotomies, periacetabular osteotomies), development of cartilage substitution/transplantation techniques in clinical practice and new advances in the treatment of joints with haemophilia. The institution also hosts the Chair of Orthopaedics at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana and holds an undergraduate course of Medicine and a graduate course of Biomedicine.
